A post on X today from streamer @antislave1 said Kick "sued by the Florida attorney general" and that the "site could be seized". The Florida AG lawsuit against Kick and Stake is real, but it isn't new: Florida's Attorney General filed it on Aug. 19, 2026. The post's attached screenshot of the county clerk's records shows that filing date.

What the Florida AG lawsuit against Kick and Stake alleges

Attorney General James Uthmeier announced two lawsuits in Hillsborough County Circuit Court that day. One targets Stake. The other targets VGW's Chumba Casino, LuckyLand and Global Poker. Both allege illegal online gambling and violations of the Florida Deceptive and Unfair Trade Practices Act (FDUTPA).

The Stake complaint names eight defendants:

  • Sweepsteaks Ltd. d/b/a Stake.us
  • Easygo Group Holdings Pty Ltd.
  • Medium Rare N.V.
  • Kick Streaming Pty Ltd.
  • Bijan Tehrani
  • Ed Craven
  • Praxis Tech Ltd. and Breeze Labs Payments Inc. (payment firms)

The clerk's record in the post's screenshot lists the case as 26-CA-009028, status open, assigned to Judge Darren D. Farfante.

Kick's role, according to the state

The complaint alleges that "Kick operates as part of the integrated Stake enterprise under the common ownership and control of Defendants Ed Craven and Bijan Tehrani." It alleges that Kick was set up as a competing streaming platform after Twitch restricted gambling streams, and that it serves as a principal marketing vehicle for Stake, with streamers showing balances, wagers, wins and losses while gambling on Stake.

The state says the Stake.us model uses "Gold Coins" bundled with "Stake Cash," which it says work as redeemable wagering credits that can be cashed out for crypto, gift cards or cash. "If it looks like a casino, takes real money like a casino, and pays out like a casino, it is a casino—and it is illegal under Florida law," Uthmeier said in the release.

These are allegations in a civil complaint. They have not been proven in court. We found no public response from Kick, Stake, Craven or Tehrani in the sources we reviewed.

What Florida is asking for

According to the AG's release, the suits seek permanent injunctions barring the defendants from operating or soliciting in Florida, forfeiture and recovery of money lost by Florida consumers, disgorgement, civil penalties under FDUTPA, restitution and attorneys' fees. Neither the release nor the coverage we reviewed mentions a request to seize Kick's website.
